Hypnosis for India  ·  University Workshop Programme

The Mind
Belongs in
Every Curriculum.

Psychology students spend years studying how the mind works. Most graduate without ever learning how to change it — in themselves or others. This workshop changes that.

“Hypnosis has been available to the elite few for too long. Our mission is to put this science in the hands of every student who will use it to serve others.”
— Dr. Maruti Sharma

The Gap in Psychology Education

What Your Students
Are Not Being Taught.

Every psychology curriculum in India covers theory. Almost none teach students how to regulate their own nervous system using evidence-based techniques. This workshop fills that gap — in a single day.

01
The Science is Settled
49 meta-analyses covering 261 randomised controlled trials confirm hypnosis as clinically effective for anxiety, pain, IBS, trauma, and habit change. NICE (UK) recommends it under Clinical Guideline CG61. Your students deserve access to this evidence base.
02
Self-Regulation is a Career Skill
A psychologist who cannot regulate their own nervous system is working at a deficit before their first session. This workshop teaches self-hypnosis and trance-based regulation as a professional tool — not a wellness exercise.
03
Your Students Graduate with a Certificate
Every participant receives an NGH-affiliated workshop certificate from India's founding NGH Chapter President — a credential from the world's oldest hypnosis organisation, recognised in 100+ countries. This is not an attendance slip.

Student Outcomes

What Every Student
Walks Away With.

Not theory. Not awareness. Actual skill — practised during the workshop, usable from the moment they leave the room.

I
A Working Skill

Self-hypnosis and nervous system self-regulation using clinical trance protocols — practised live during the workshop, not just explained.

II
An International Certificate

An NGH India Workshop Certificate issued under the authority of India's founding NGH Chapter President — internationally affiliated, professionally meaningful.

III
A New Clinical Lens

An understanding of how hypnosis works neurologically, what the evidence says, and how it integrates with clinical psychology — material not taught in any Indian curriculum.

IV
Resilience Tools

Techniques for managing exam stress, performance anxiety, and emotional overwhelm — skills that serve them throughout their academic and clinical careers.

V
Professional Awareness

An understanding of when and how to refer clients for hypnotherapy — making them more complete clinicians regardless of whether they pursue hypnosis themselves.

VI
A Pathway Forward

For students who want to go deeper, a direct pathway to the full NGH Consulting Hypnotist Certification programme — the professional credential that qualifies them to practise.

VII
A Private Practice Perspective

A direct look at what a career in private practice actually looks like — from someone who has built one over 30 years. Dr. Sharma is among the most respected private practitioners in India. Students leave knowing that a viable, fulfilling career in clinical psychology and hypnotherapy is not just possible — it is a proven path.

Workshop Curriculum

What Happens
on the Day.

The workshop is structured as an experiential arc — not a lecture. Students experience the material before they understand it, and understand it before they practise it.

01
The Science of the Hypnotic Mind
What hypnosis actually is — and what it is not. The neuroscience of trance states, the biology of the stress response, and why the nervous system responds differently to a hypnotic suggestion than to a conscious instruction. Misconceptions cleared. Evidence presented.
Neuroscience Evidence Base Trance States Misconceptions
02
Experiencing Trance — Guided Induction
Every student is guided into a hypnotic trance state by Dr. Sharma. This is the pivotal moment of the workshop — the experience that makes everything else real. Students learn what trance feels like, how it differs from sleep or relaxation, and what is actually happening in the body and mind during the state.
Live Induction Experiential Learning Depth Testing
03
Nervous System Self-Regulation Protocol
The core clinical skill of the workshop. Students learn and practise a self-hypnosis protocol specifically designed for nervous system regulation — addressing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and stress responses. This protocol can be used independently, immediately after the workshop, without any equipment or external assistance.

04
Hypnosis in Clinical Psychology Practice
Where does hypnosis fit within the clinical psychology framework? Evidence-based applications for anxiety, pain, IBS, trauma, and habit change. When to refer, when to use as adjunct, and the ethical boundaries of hypnotic practice — delivered from the perspective of a 30-year RCI-licensed clinician.

For Heads of Department

Why Your Department
Should Say Yes.

“A psychology department that teaches its students how the mind changes — not just how the mind works — is a department that stands apart.”
1

Zero curriculum disruption. The workshop runs as a standalone event — a guest lecture day, a department activity, or a student society event. It does not require any change to your existing syllabus or timetable.

2

The facilitator is RCI-licensed. Dr. Maruti Sharma is a Rehabilitation Council of India licensed clinical psychologist — the same regulatory body your faculty hold their licences under. This is not an outside speaker with a certificate. This is a peer.

3

Your students receive an internationally affiliated certificate. The NGH India Workshop Certificate is issued under the authority of the official India Chapter of the National Guild of Hypnotists, USA — founded 1951, recognised in 100+ countries. This is a credential your students can place on their CV.

4

Your institution joins a national initiative. The 100 Colleges 2026 programme is a documented, structured initiative. Your department's participation will be listed among India's leading psychology institutions championing evidence-based innovation in mental health education.

5

Faculty are welcome to participate. Every format includes faculty participation at no additional cost. Heads of Department who attend walk away with the same skill set and certificate as their students.

Beyond the Degree

The Question Nobody
Answers in University.

“Every psychology student I have ever met has the same unspoken fear: I will graduate, I will be qualified, and I still won’t know how to build a practice that sustains me.” — Dr. Maruti Sharma

Dr. Sharma has spent 30 years building a private practice that serves clients across 100+ countries — without a hospital appointment, without a corporate salary, and without compromising on clinical rigour. He built it from scratch, in India, as a psychologist and hypnotherapist. That is a rare and specific knowledge base. This workshop shares it.

01
The Private Practice Myth
Most psychology graduates believe private practice is only possible after years in institutions. Dr. Sharma dispels this — and shows what the actual path looks like from day one, including the mistakes he made and what he would do differently.
02
Hypnotherapy as a Clinical Asset
A psychologist who also holds an NGH certification is not competing with other psychologists — they are in a different category. The workshop shows students exactly how hypnotherapy expands the clinical offering, attracts a different calibre of client, and commands a premium.
03
What Clients Actually Pay For
Clients do not pay for degrees. They pay for outcomes. Dr. Sharma explains the shift from credential-based positioning to outcome-based practice — and why a psychologist who can hypnotise has a conversion advantage no amount of academic qualification provides.
04
The Integrated Model
Clinical psychology + hypnotherapy + MTP™ is not three separate offerings. It is one integrated model of change that allows a practitioner to work with the full range of a client’s presenting issues — deeper, faster, and with more lasting results. Dr. Sharma has practised this for three decades.

Students who attend this workshop leave with more than a skill and a certificate. They leave with a vision of what their career could look like — and the knowledge that someone has already built it.

For students who want to go further — the full NGH Consulting Hypnotist Certification is the professional next step. It is the credential that makes private practice in hypnotherapy not just possible, but credible.
